Serina: Survivor and New Sister in Christ

I met Serina a few weeks ago at the refugee hospital where I am currently working. She came as a patient, malnourished and in severe pain. She came with no caregiver, no food, no nothing. My roommate, who works here at the main hospital, told me about this woman, knowing that I am a pastor and I often help such patients who come in for admission with no caretakers and food. I brought Serina my dinner, and she told me her story.

She was born in Rwanda, and she has been through a lot. She is a single mother of 2, struggling with health conditions, oppressed by extreme poverty, and the survivor of sexual assault. Her pain was the result of a recent assault, and she was planning to go to a witch doctor and bewitch the two men that raped him. I took her through a small session of the word of God, and talked with her about healing, forgiveness, and Jesus Christ. After our sharing, this beautiful young woman gave her life to Christ. She was able to forgive the men painfully. We pray for her total healing, spirit, and strength. After her hospital treatment, I gave her transport money to go back home to her mother, who is not in good health. Serina found the kids sick, so I sent her some little money to take them to the nearby clinic for treatment. Though the family is still struggling, the kids' health and Serina's spirit is much better. We praise God for what He is doing in Serina's life, and we are thinking about how Daystar might continue to support this family in the future.
