It's official! Daystar Medical Clinic is now open for business. Even before we officially opened our doors, people were lining up asking for treatment. We are so grateful to be able to meet this healthcare need in our community. Since opening our doors last month, we have been busy delivering babies, diagnosing ailments, treating infections, removing earwigs, and more. Dr. Irene is working as the primary clinician, and we've also been able to hire a nurse/midwife and a lab technician.
We are currently treating an average of 15 patients each day, and it is not uncommon for us to fill one or more of our wards to capacity. We are raising money for an ultrasound machine ($5000), which will allow us to provide prenatal care and other important services. This machine will also help us bring in enough money to make the clinic financially self-sustaining (How to Contribute).
We are so grateful to all of our donors for allowing us to serve the people of Namalemba in this way.
